4 Women Tell Us What They're Optimistic For In 2021

Clear skin, wild swimming, and seeing friends — we love to see it in 2021

by Sarah Lakos

Change is in the air. Can you feel it? Spring's clearer blue skies have become a metaphor for reaching a place where things are ... well, simpler. We're ready to resume our favourite routines, pursue the goals that have been on hold, and finally live life in the clear.

To inspire your own optimistic outlook, we partnered with La Roche-Posay to explore how every goal, big or small, is something to look forward to in 2021. Whether it's committing to a dermatologist-approved skincare routine or implementing strategies for your most productive work year yet, there's so much to feel optimistic about.

We asked four women to share what they're excited to experience, achieve, and revel in. We dare you to not be super-charged by their electric anticipation for the year ahead.

I’m optimistic about maintaining clear skin by continuing my improved skincare routine, which I’ve fine-tuned during lockdown. It's really helped clear up my stress breakouts. My hero product has been La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo+ moisturiser, which has visibly reduced the appearance of marks and is great for controlling shine. It has given me a newfound confidence to go make-up-free (except for a swipe of my favourite lipgloss) — something I never used to do!

I’m optimistic about having another wonderful summer wild swimming. I’m happiest when I’m in water; it does wonders for my mental health. It’s been tough. There's been a lot of collective grieving and sadness, but it was small things like swimming that put a smile on my face. I won’t be surprised if we aren’t in clubs on June (I’m staying positive!), but I’m pretty optimistic whatever happens I’ll be able to swim in the UK and feel the calm water provides me.

The lockdown period created an opportunity for me to re-evaluate my role as business owner and creative director of interior design studio House of Sui Sui. The pandemic really shifted the way the interior design industry works, and I’m super excited to launch our e-design service. This year is all about expanding my team so we can take on both larger projects, as well as smaller projects or international clients via our new e-design offering. Most importantly, I want to take ownership of my power as a female business owner and becoming religiously organised as my business grows.

Although I grew up in London, there's nothing I love more than jumping on a train and escaping the city for the day. Lockdown has meant that I have exhausted all my local parks, so I can’t wait to grab some friends and sit in the sun with some drinks. Hopefully, we can add a staycation into the mix, too!
