All Your Autumn Yogurt Dreams Are Coming True

Fall has long been my favorite season; the cooler temperatures and all those pumpkin-infused food and drink options that suddenly become available make me one happy gal. And although I’ve never thought, “Gee, I wish this yogurt I was eating were more seasonally appropriate,” I think I’ve just found two more reasons to love the season: Chobani’s new Pumpkin Spice and Apple Cinnamon Greek yogurt flavors. File these under “Things You Never Knew You Wanted.”

The two limited-batch flavors hit stores Sept. 1; they’ll only be around until January 2015, but if we think optimistically, that gives us four months to enjoy ‘em. And guess what? Unlike the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, there’s actually pumpkin in this one! The Daily Meal notes that the yogurts might be “more of an after-school treat than a smart breakfast” due to the sugar content — between 12 and 16 grams per serving — but hey. Yogurt is a totally acceptable dessert.

Naturally, Chobani isn’t the only one capitalizing on the seasonal pumpkin craze right now. It’s only Sept. 2, and so far, I’ve already managed to get my paws on some Pumpkin Pie Toaster Strudels (they’re delicious, if a little sweet); furthermore, according to the Portland Press Herald, Quaker is planning on releasing pumpkin spice instant oatmeal his season, pumpkin spice Jell-O is on the docket, and General Mills has everything from pumpkin spice Betty Crocker cookie mix to pumpkin spice Yoplait up its rather considerable sleeve. Get ready, y'all. Pumpkin Spiceapalooza is here.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be over here airing out my sweaters, polishing my boots, and getting ready to jump in a few piles of leaves.

Happy autumn!
