Best Winter Moisturizers For Face, Body, and Hair

by Miki Hayes

Winter is coming. And while cuter, cozier clothing come with the cooler temps, so does dry skin and hair. I gotta say, as much as I complain about the humidity in summer, it is nice not having to worry that moisture is being sucked out of my skin just from going outside. But alas, winter weather can be a bitch. And not just because of the cold air either. Unfortunately, all that heating we do indoors to combat the cold outdoors also adds to the dehydration of our skin and hair. Is this starting to sound like a lose-lose time of year? Well thank goodness for the beauty industry, amirite?

Loads of brands put out products during the colder seasons to help skin retain what becomes elusive moisture. But even with all of these products to choose from, what exactly do you look for? Some helpful ingredients to consider are water, oils, and hyaluronic acid. Of course, if your skin and hair are losing moisture, it is always helpful to replenish with products that contain some amount of water. Oils are helpful because they seal in moisture, and hyaluronic acid works by binding water to create a gel-like fluid that hydrates surrounding tissue.

If you can, try to stay away from products with alcohol. Alcohol will only work to counteract any added or retained moisture and further dry out your skin and hair.

If you need some ideas of where to start in upping your winter skin and haircare game, here are some of the best deep conditioners for face, body, and hair:
