What To Expect When 'The Bachelorette' Returns

by Molly Freeman

Now that Ben Higgins' journey on The Bachelor has come to an end — complete with the requisite drama (this time heightened by the fact that the Bachelor told two women he was in love with them), a final rose, and a Neil Lane engagement ring — it's time to move on to another person hoping to find love, this time on The Bachelorette. During the Season 20 After the Final Rose special, JoJo was announced as the next leading lady. But when will JoJo's season of The Bachelorette premiere?

If we're going by the timelines of previous seasons of The Bachelorette, it's likely Season 12 will premiere in mid or late May. Since ABC usually gives its Monday nights over to The Bachelor franchise, including The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, it came as no surprise when Chris Harrison revealed during After The Final Rose that JoJo's season will premiere on May 23, 2016.

Since that's the case, there are only two months to wait between the ending of The Bachelor and the beginning of The Bachelorette, which isn't too long in the grand scheme of things — even if it feels like forever right now. But, to tide us over until then, let's talk about what to expect from the season premiere of The Bachelorette. Plenty Of Fun

JoJo became a fan favorite on this season of The Bachelor and it's almost a certainty that she will bring all of what viewers loved about her back for The Bachelorette. Will she be as fun as Kaitlyn Bristowe? Now that's something I'm not sure of — Kaitlyn's are some big shoes to fill.

Quirky Arrivals

Last season of The Bachelorette gave us a cupcake car (#neverforget) and on this season of The Bachelor, JoJo stepped out of the limo wearing a unicorn mask — both of which are hard to top. I'm excited to see how the men of The Bachelorette try out their own quirky arrivals.

Drinking & Drama

Let's all be honest here, we watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette for the ridiculous drama (and maybe the love stories these shows attempt to document). Between the number of contestants, the number of drinks, and the long hours of the first night, the premiere is usually one of the most fun and drama-infused episodes of the season.

Funny Professions

As sure as there will be quirky arrivals, there are certain to be some strange professions on The Bachelorette . I'm still not on board with listing "Twins" or "Chicken Enthusiast" as occupations (surely they can't pay well?), but these silly signifiers have become synonymous with ABC's reality dating franchise and I'm looking forward to what The Bachelorette will give us. Although, I'm not sure anything can top "Pantsapreneur."

Suits On Suits On Suits

Dissecting the fashion choices of people on television can be a full-time job. But, for those of us that like to participate in the practice for fun, the season premiere of The Bachelorette is the best time to discuss whether each contestant works their suit or looks too much like they're going to prom.

So, although we may have to wait two months for the season premiere of The Bachelorette, there's plenty to look forward to — and if I know one thing about this reality dating series, it's that it can deliver a premiere that's worth the wait.
