This 'PLL' A.D. Theory Will Blow Your Mind

Just when you think things can't possibly get more complicated in Rosewood, Pretty Little Liars goes and turns everything we thought we knew on its head. And I'm not just talking about the fact that Jessica DiLaurentis has a twin sister, Mary Drake. (Though that in and of itself would've been mind-blowing enough.) I'm also referring to the mysterious identity of A.D. on Pretty Little Liars . Who is this person and how do they fit into this complicated Drake/DiLaurentis family tree? I. Marlene King recently confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that A.D. and Uber A are one in the same, so it stems to reason that the "D" in this scenario stands for Drake, but what about that letter A? My working theory is that these A.D. initials stand for Charlotte's brother, Andrew Drake, who we know as Andrew Campbell.

It's easy to forget about Andrew's existence since we haven't seen or heard from him in quite some time. But honestly, that's one of the things that makes him so suspicious. He has no alibi and odds are the writers want us to forget about him, so that we can be surprised by his grand return. However, his absence alone isn't what's bumped him to the top of my suspect list — it's the fact that we know he was adopted. The hosts of Bustle's Pretty Little Liars podcast, Taking This One To The Grave, also have some thoughts on A.D.'s identity, Mary Drake, and more, which you can listen to below.

As we learned in the finale, Charlotte was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. DiLaurentis since Mary Drake was a patient at Radley and couldn't keep her. But what if that wasn't the only child Mary had? What if she had a son who was also adopted by another family? Perhaps Jessica was only willing to take one of the children, so Mary was forced to split them up. We know nothing about Andrew's biological parents, so it's definitely possible. Plus, it could also help explain why Mrs. D brought the children to the Campbell Farm. Charlotte may not have been the only cousin the DiLaurentis children were spending time with there.

I refuse to believe that their decision to meet up at this farm was totally random. I think the people who owned the property were completely aware of this complicated family tree, so it wasn't the only safe place they could all get together without attracting unwanted attention. Now, of course, I can't presume to guess when Andrew learned of his biological family roots. He could've been completely in the dark up until Charlotte was revealed to be A. Perhaps the two of them became close throughout the last five years, which is what inspired him to take up the A mantle after she died. And if that's the case, let's just hope the Liars are able to stop him soon before Hanna suffers the same fate... if she hasn't already.
