Here's What Ben From 'Crossroads' Looks Like Today

by Kaitlin Reilly

Every great teen coming-of-age story needs a bad boy with a heart of gold, and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes (yes, really) got Ben from Britney Spears' 2002 dramedy Crossroads exactly right. Played by Anson Mount, Ben was the guy that you should definitely not take a road trip with, despite what the movie's leads (played by Spears, Zoe Saldana, and Taryn Manning) decide. For one thing, Ben was basically a stranger, and as high school graduates, you would think that the three girls would understand not to get in a vehicle with someone you barely know. For another, he spent time in jail for a crime — and the girls had no idea what it could be. Luckily, fearless road trip leader Ben wasn't actually a "bad boy" — his heart of gold shone so brightly that he was willing to get arrested to save his stepsister from her evil dad. It's no wonder that Spears' character Lucy decided that he was the guy she'd sleep with for the first time by the end of the movie.

Seriously, when it comes to road tripping with a stranger, the girls really lucked out. Ben was beautiful, charming, and, fortunately, not actually a serial killer. He's a character that's stayed with audiences years after forgetting about Crossroads itself (sorry, Shonda), so where is this memorable actor today? Here's where you've seen Anson Mount outside of that convertible.

The Mountain (2004-2005)

Mount starred on this WB series about a family who owns a ski resort and all of the twisted entanglements they find themselves caught up in. Think One Tree Hill, but with skiing.

Line Of Fire (2003-2005)

Mount traded in skis for a police drama in which he played an undercover agent. The series lasted for 11 episodes on ABC.

Conviction (2006)

In this Law & Order: SVU spinoff, Mount played Jim Steele, an assistant District Attorney who becomes a romantic interest for SVU's crossover character Alex Cabot.

All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (2007)

Mount played Garth in this horror flick, which starred now-A-lister Amber Heard.

Hick (2011)

Mount played a character called Nick in this feature, which also starred Blake Lively and Chloe Grace Moretz.

Hell On Wheels (2011-Present)

Mount's most recent project is his biggest yet. Mount has top billing on this Western series, in which he stars as Cullen, a former Confederate soldier looking to avenge the death of his wife and child.

So what does Mount look like today? Here's him (and his adorable dog) nearly 14 years after Crossroads' February 2002 release.

Now, is a Crossroads reunion too much to ask?
