These Disney Channel Halloween Eps Are the Best

by Courtney Lindley

Halloween brings out the nostalgia in all of us — seriously, how can it not? It's a magical time of make believe, costumes, and above all else, candy. But, I ask of you: Is there really a better way to compound this nostalgia (read: fistfuls of Reese's pieces) with a healthy dose of old school Disney Channel Halloween TV show episodes? I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say no, probably not.

Because Disney Channel Halloween TV show episodes were the perfect mix of all the things most of us love about this holiday: hokeyness, scary stories, unbelievable plot lines, and ridiculous special effects. They were, in a word, perfect. Just five minutes into these bad boys, and you will remember why Disney Channel basically ruled our childhood/pre-teen lives.

Yes, they are that good.

So, as if you require more convincing to sit down and take a gander at the likes of Lizzie McGuire or Even Stevens, let me remind you of some pretty spectacular Disney Channel halloween episodes. Be warned though: once we get into this, you are going to want to marathon all of these ASAP. Or, at least, before October 31st. It's also advisable that you bring copious amounts of candy with you when the viewing does occur (see above for reference).

1. Even Stevens: A Very Scary Story (2001)

On the 13th episode of the second season (how incredibly fitting), Ren hatches a plan to turn the whole student body into perfect students like herself. Think Walking Dead, but with straight-A students instead of actual zombies. Classic Ren!

2. Hannah Montana: Torn Between Two Hannahs (2006)

When Miley's lookalike cousin comes into town, a rivalry develops. At a Halloween party, she pretends to be Miley/Hannah, and threatens to unveil the truth about Miley's secret double identity.

3. Kim Possible: October 31st (2002)

This one is so the drama. In Kim's Halloween special, she lies to her parents about going to a party, which she attends in an effort to talk with her long standing crush. Involved is an accessory that grows every time she lies, and a one-on-one villain fight. It's a solid episode.

4. Lilo & Stitch The Series: Spooky (2003)

Experiment number 300 is discovered to be something truly terrifying: a being that morph's into everyone's worst fears. *shudders*

5. Lizzie McGuire: Night Of The Day Of The Dead (2003)

There's a Halloween carnival at school, but Lizzie's not excited to attend because her little brother, Matt, will be there as well. Lizzie wants to be Vampira, but ends up having to dress up as a clown, because well, Kate is going as Vampira — and duh you can't have an outfit repeat in middle school! There's also a point in time where Lizzie turns into a zombie clown, and trust, it's actually kind of terrifying.

6. Phil Of The Future: Halloween (2004)

The episode that reveals possible cyborg, Debbie, as an actual cyborg. Phil and Keely must save Halloween and free Debbie's cupcake making slaves! It's all very confusing, actually... but then again, so was the entire show, in the best way possible.

7. So Weird: Boo (1999)

So Weird was so good, and this Halloween special was no exception. Fi and the gang navigate a town where the citizens are all resurrected for one night a year: on Halloween, of course.

8. That’s So Raven: Don't Have a Cow (2003)

Raven and BFF Chelsea dress up as cows for a Halloween party, but when they get there hands on a magic spell book, things take a weird turn. Spoiler alert: they turn into real cows. Yikes.

So let us all take this as an opportunity to get into the Halloween spirit...Disney style.
