Questions About 'Mockingjay, Part 2's Trailer

by Maitri Suhas

Tuesdays can be tough days; it's not Monday, but it's nowhere near Friday. Luckily, though, on this Tuesday, the newest trailer for Th e Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 came out and it's got me (and a ton of other fans of the franchise) freaking out all over again. Katniss Everdeen is back, everyone, and she is going to make sure this franchise goes out with a bang. The final installment of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games saga is being released in November, which means we have only seven more months to go (yes, I realize that sounds like a lot, but I am just trying to stay positive over here). Realizing this franchise is nearly over is a bittersweet feeling — but, for the time being, it's probably healthiest for fans to focus on the installment we do have left. Which leads me to the question that's been on my mind since first watching the Mockingjay — Part 2 trailer: And that's why does it leave us all with so many questions?!

This trailer has got ALMOST everything: a grand wedding, some explosive battles with very high production value (eat your heart out, Michael Bay), drama, incredible, kooky Capitol fashion, Donald Sutherland as President Snow in the flashiest outfit ever, and, last but not least, Peeta getting hugged (sweet little Peeta bread deserves infinite hugs). But, naturally, I have questions, because if we don't ask questions, then the Capitol wins. Here are just a few that the trailer left me with:

When Does The Movie Start?

The trailer opens with a scene of Finnick and Annie getting married — to which the only appropriate reaction is "finally, these two can be together, and happy!" But, where does that land on the timeline? At the end of Mockingjay — Part 1, Peeta was still hijacked — so has he recovered at this point?

Are Those The Pods That Boggs Sets Off?

They sure look like it. In the book, Boggs — while filming propos — sets off a pod, which explodes and blows his legs off. I'm assuming this wave of black pods is the same wave that Boggs sets off, but since the books and the movies tend to differ sometimes, I'm wondering whether Boggs will lose his legs on screen.

BRIENNE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?

OK, so, I know that Gwendoline Christie — aka Game Of Thrones' Brienne of Tarth — replaced Lily Rabe to play Commander Lyme in Mockingjay — Part 2. I'm just so glad to see her face, though!

What's Gonna Happen To Gale?

We all know that Peeta is ultimately the man that Katniss realizes that she loves (DUH), but where does that leave Gale in this movie? Does he just sort of slowly fade into the background, making that brooding face he pulls off so well?

How Sad Is Prim's Death Going To Be?

I'm betting very, very, VERY sad — especially since the trailer shows us this way-too heartwrenching scene of Katniss and Prim dancing and hugging. DANCING AND HUGGING, GUYS.

What's The Epilogue Going To Be Like?

Hopefully, the aging process of the actors will be on point.

Who Is Katniss About To Shoot, Here?

The most badass scene in the trailer features Katniss marching in the sunlight of the Capitol followed by hundreds — maybe thousands — of rebels. Is this the final execution scene?! Would they give that much away in the trailer? (Also, Katniss' eye make up game here is on point. Do they have the new Naked palette in Panem?)

Will we see Buttercup?

I just really miss Buttercup.
