Nene Leakes Just Quit 'Real Housewives Of Atlanta'

by Tracy Dye

Bad news, Real Housewives of Atlanta fans. According to a June 29 report from People, NeNe Leakes is quitting the Bravo hit series after eight seasons. Whether or not you always agreed with RHOA's outspoken matriarch, she was definitely a huge part of what made this reality show so addictive. All good things must come to an end, however, and it looks like Leakes put a vast amount of thought into this decision. "This was definitely a hard decision for me," she stated. "Me and my husband [Gregg Leakes] have been going back and forth on it for weeks now. But my contract is up and I just think this is the right time." Fortunately for Leakes fans, this is hardly the last we will see of her. She went on to hint at an upcoming primetime television project "with a big legend," where she promises fans will get a healthy dose of all those "one liners" that helped make her such a standout on RHOA. Leakes also recently debuted in animated form for Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian's, new iPhone game, for those looking for a double dose of reality stardom. The star also isn't counting out making the occasional appearance on future seasons of RHOA, which makes it a tad bit easier to say goodbye. An official statement on her exit was posted to Twitter:

How will the other housewives of RHOA take the news? Leakes noted that her exit might actually be regarded positively by some cast members who may have felt shadowed by her success. "They always felt like I was the star, and they were never able to really shine with me there, so here's their opportunity to shine."

It sounds like Leakes has made the right decision for herself, and we look forward to learning more about her future endeavors.
