Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have spent the last few days visiting New York City. They paid their respects at the 9/11 World Trade Center memorial, hit the Global Citizen Live event, and more. Here’s everything Markle wore during her visit — and the hidden meaning behind it.

The couple spent Saturday night at the Global Citizen Live event. For the occasion, Markle chose an embellished mini shift dress from Valentino with black satin pumps from Gianvito Rossi. She also wore the Cartier Tank watch, which once belonged to Princess Diana, on her wrist.

Earlier in the day, Markle topped her white dress with a black Christian Dior coat and plaid scarf, holding a black Dior Lady Bag. The bag has a special hidden meaning; Princess Diana was a big fan of the accessory which was gifted to her, and then known as the Chouchou bag. Dior renamed it the Lady bag as a tribute to Diana.

Spending time at the United Nations in midtown, Markle wore a neutral monochromatic look of tan wool pants, a matching silk top, and a dark camel cashmere robe coat on top, all designed by Max Mara. She finished it off with a pair of camel suede pumps from Manolo Blahnik.

Visiting P.S. 123 and Melba in Harlem, Markle went bold in all red, slipping into a Loro Piana look of trousers, a crewneck sweater, a red cashmere jacket, and red suede Manolo Blahnik pumps. The monochrome, all-red look seemed to channel Michelle Obama’s inauguration day outfit.

Markle and Prince Harry visited with UN Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield dressed in a look straight out of Audrey Hepburn’s Funny Face. She chose a classic black turtleneck, black pencil skirt from Roland Mouret, and topped it with a camel coat from Max Mara.

Earlier in the day, Markle visited the One World Observatory and 9/11 Memorial in all black to capture the somber nature of the event. She wore a black turtleneck from The Row, black trousers, and a black single-button coat from Emporio Armani. On her feet were pointed-toe navy pumps from Aquazzura.
