A Look Back At J.Lo & A-Rod’s Romance Through Pictures

“Love don’t cost a thing” — and neither do these memories of Jennifer and Alex’s relationship that started in 2017 and ended in 2021.

J.Lo and A-Rod’s love story began in 2017, and that same year, the pair attended their first Met Gala together. In many of the photos from that evening, Lopez was captured looking lovingly at her (then) new boyfriend. Little did she know they would go on to spend four more years together before calling off their engagement and announcing their split on April 15, 2021.

A-Rod supported J.Lo in many of her professional endeavors. In this photo from August 2017, the pair was caught taking selfies on the set of her crime drama, Shades of Blue, in Queens, New York.

That same year, the new couple visited the City of Love and posed in front of the Louvre in Paris, which was basically all the confirmation fans needed to prove the relationship was getting serious. “Jennifer organized the trip and showed Alex her favorite places,” according to People, adding that the pair “had the best week” and that J.Lo “gushes about Alex every chance she gets.”

Among J.Lo’s favorite things in Paris is apparently the ice cream. She and the former New York Yankees shortstop snapped this picture on the Ile Saint Louis near Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Another year, another Met Gala. In 2018, the pair was spotted laughing while posing for photos on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The event’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” and we have to say, J.Lo absolutely crushed it.

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards were big for Lopez. Not only did she win a VMA for her song “Dinero” featuring DJ Khaled and Cardi B, but she was also honored with the iconic Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. A-Rod, her daughter Emme, and her son Maximilian supported her at the VMAs. In her acceptance speech, she even referred to the professional baseball player as her “twin soul.”

Given A-Rod’s career, it probably comes as no surprise that the former couple enjoyed attending sporting events together. Here, they shared a kiss while at a basketball game between the Duke Blue Devils and the Miami Hurricanes in 2018.

Clearly, red carpets were the couple’s strong suit. In 2019, J.Lo and A-Rod strutted onto the carpet at the CFDA Fashion Awards, proving once and for all that they were the A-list power couple to look out for.

J.Lo and A-Rod attended the Met Gala together for the last time as a couple in 2019. They posed alongside each other on the famous steps as the cameras captured the sparkles on her beaded Versace gown. A-Rod, for his part, stood there in his pink suit jacket and smiled, letting his girlfriend have her moment to shine. Literally.

The power duo stunned on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in 2019. Earlier that evening, the Hustlers star was a presenter at the Academy Awards. On the carpet, Rodriguez gushed over J.Lo’s beauty and success. Lopez, on the other hand, commended his social media skills. It’s true — there’s nothing we’ll miss more than their Instagram photos.

Although she didn’t ultimately win, J.Lo was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture category at the 2020 Golden Globes. Laura Dern wound up taking home the trophy, but A-Rod was there to support her, win or lose.

J.Lo was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Again, the retired baseball star was there to cheer on his then-fiancée.
