From leisurely meals spent catching up with friends to dressy dinners out and cozy fireplace hangs with the family, there are so many reasons to love the holidays. Plus, each special outing calls for its own festive look, so it’s also the best time of year to flex your style skills.
Because we could all use a little inspiration (no matter where we’re headed), we’re sharing three editor-approved looks to rock this season, in partnership with CHAPS. Even more exciting? Mandy Moore worked with CHAPS to curate her favorite pieces, which are included in these looks — so they’re not just editor-approved, but also approved by one of our favorite fashionable women in Hollywood. (And once you’re done soaking up inspo for your own looks, Moore has also curated a few CHAPS picks on Romper.)
If you’re traveling home for the holidays, kick off your your weekend by grabbing brunch with friends before your family activities begin in earnest. It’s the perfect time to check in with everyone and make plans for a night out that evening (and a plate of pancakes for the table never hurts, either).
Build your look around CHAPS’s plaid twill A-line skirt and red turtleneck sweater — both of which are Mandy picks. The plaid print is a fun way to get into the holiday spirit without going full-on glitterati (save that for New Year’s Eve), and the red turtleneck instantly pulls the outfit together. When the temperature dips, a fuzzy teddy jacket adds a cozy layer.
For a more casual look post-brunch, our editors suggest swapping out the turtleneck for a graphic tee, or pulling on a comfy pair of leggings with the sweater.
For a casual holiday dinner with family, our editors suggest a comfortable look that still feels put-together and seasonal. Mandy loves this long-sleeve fit and flare dress: It’s made of soft jersey material, but a twist at the waist lends a chic detail.
If the dining room is chilly, throw on a windowpane plaid ruana. The neutral black and white palette ensures easy pairing with anything in your closet, and it’s the perfect extra layer for a chilly evening. If your family dinner tends to be more formal, layer on some jewelry for a festive, sparkly glow.
If you’re upgrading to a place where the outdoors are comfortable this holiday, first of all, we’re extremely jealous. But second, you’re probably taking advantage of that lovely, crisp air. A Christmas morning walk on the beach is the perfect way to spend time together after opening gifts.
For this look, reach for this Mandy-approved striped sweater with a nautical vibe, plus a pair of winter white pants in a chic wide-legged silhouette that our editors love. This look is comfortable enough to move and lounge around in, but remains polished. If you’re done with lounging and want to dress it up later in the day, just switch out your walkable sneakers for something with a heel and voila — instant glam.
