Promising MTV Series Brought to a Halt

by Kate Ward

Seems Zach Stone isn't going to be famous after all. Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, starring comedian Bo Burnham, has been canceled by MTV after just one season, according to Deadline.

Though the network claimed they were fans of the promising Burnham, the network said in a statement, “After careful consideration of many factors, we have ultimately decided not to move forward with an additional season of the series. We wish Bo, the cast and the entire production crew the very best.”

The series received middling reviews from critics, and few reviews from viewers, who failed to tune in to watch Burnham and the series. Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous is just the latest casualty at the network, which has also axed scripted series like Skins and I Just Want My Pants Back in the last few years.

As for Burnham's next step? Unclear, but hopefully the comedian does get a chance to field fame he deserves soon.
