The 'Project Runway' Guest Judges Are Fashionable
When Project Runway returns on Thursday, the panel of judges will feature the familiar faces of Tim Gunn, Nina Garcia, Heidi Klum, and Zac Posen. But, the guest judges for Season 14 of Project Runway include an array of actors, models, and singers. Surprisingly, only one fashion designer is on the roster to serve as a guest judge, which is a departure from prior seasons.
Of course, that's not to say the entertainment figures on this list won't have valuable insight to offer the contestants. After all, the designers on Project Runway are pursuing their dream of launching a fashion line that will ultimately be so successful that Hollywood's most stylish stars will be showing up to red carpet events and awards shows in their designs.
And, as much as I love our new "core four," I will never stop missing Michael Kors and his hilarious (although somewhat harsh) critiques. So, really, my biggest complaint about this list is that Kors won't at least grace us with his presence as a guest judge for one week. Still, there are plenty of celebrities I look forward to seeing on the show. Here's a sneak preview of the super stylish guest judges we can look forward to during Season 14 of Project Runway according to the show's website.
1. Hannah Davis
Davis, who will be the guest judge in the season premiere on Thursday, is a fashion model who was featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this year. She has previously modeled for Victoria's Secret and Ralph Lauren and will be the host of Lifetime's new Project Runway Junior series, which premieres this fall.
2. Bella Thorne
Thorne is a film and television actress who began her career as a child model. She can currently be seen on this summer's hit show Scream. Also, her first novel, Autumn Falls, was released last November.
3. Kiernan Shipka
We know her best as Sally Draper on Mad Men, but, in real life, Kiernan Shipka is the most stylish 15-year-old in Hollywood. Shipka considers Grace Kelly her role model and inspiration, but she could give the Princess of Monaco a run for her money in both the acting and fashion departments.
4. Tracee Ellis Ross
The daughter of legendary Diana Ross has become a star in her own right. She began her career as a model and fashion editor and currently stars on the ABC sitcom black-ish.
5. Paula Patton
Patton made her film debut in 2005's Hitch and has kept busy since then with lead roles in Mirrors, Swing Vote, Precious, and Baggage Claim. Next up she will be starring in the film version of Warcraft, based on the video game series.
6. Ashley Tisdale
The High School Musical franchise is what made Tisdale famous, but these days she is focusing on her music career and has formed her own production company. She also stars in the television series Clipped.
7. Shiri Appleby & Constance Zimmer
Appleby and Zimmer will be guest judges on the same episode. They currently star together in the Lifetime dramedy series UnREAL, which was just renewed for a second season. The show focuses on a reality TV producer (Appleby) whose boss (Zimmer) pressures her to stop at nothing in order to create salacious content for the show.
8. Ciara
Upon graduating from high school in 2003, Ciara signed a record deal almost immediately and her debut album was released the following year. She has won a Grammy, two MTV Video Music awards, two Teen Choice awards, and two BET awards. Ciara has also modeled with Wilhelmina Models since 2009.
9. Mel B.
She will always be Scary Spice to many of us, but Mel B.'s career has flourished since her Spice Girls days. She's had success as a solo recording artist and is a judge on America's Got Talent. Mel B. was also the runner-up on the fifth season of Dancing With the Stars and last year she was a coach on The Voice Kids Australia.
10. Lisa Perry
Perry is a fashion designer who uses the 1960s era as her inspiration. Her clothes are known for their bold colors, geometric shapes, and clean lines.
11. Coco Rocha
Rocha has modeled for top designers including Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Chanel, and Project Runway's own Zac Posen. She is also known for taking a stand against eating disorders in the modeling community when she penned an insightful open letter to The New York Times.
This is definitely a talented set of guest judges. Should make for an interesting season!
