What Is Jessica Simpson's Net Worth?

by Jaclyn Anglis

Jessica Simpson is still bringing home the bacon. Some people may see her as a has-been pop star, or as a ditz that still doesn't know whether Chicken of the Sea is actually poultry or not, but she's getting the last laugh, all the way to the bank. Jessica Simpson's namesake brand recently turned 10 years old, so I can't think of a better time for us to start appreciating her for what she is at the end of the day — a savvy businesswoman. Some fans might be wondering just how savvy, though. Some may be wondering about Jessica Simpson's net worth.

Simpson's net worth is $150 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth and other sources. To put this into perspective, it is the same amount Britney Spears is reported to be worth. It might seem a bit shocking to some that the 35-year-old's net worth is so high, especially because she is not nearly as publicly visible as she once was. In the early aughts, Simpson was on Newlyweds with then-husband Nick Lachey, performing singles like "With You," and donning daisy dukes for the Dukes of Hazzard re-make movie. But if you check out all the business ventures she has been involved with since then, it is honestly not surprising that she is still rolling in the dough. Her net worth is high, and for good reason.

A big reason for her wealth is her namesake fashion line. Let's face it, celebrity designers tend to have a leg up when it comes to the fashion world because consumers already know their name and face and are more likely to pay up for something they already recognize. But not all fashion-forward celebs take advantage of this industry, and many celeb designers fall out with their brand because they are not able to keep an audience interested after the initial hype dies down.

But Simpson has definitely found a way to keep people buying her stuff, and she's been at it since 2005. Her company, which includes women's clothing, shoes, and fragrances, is worth about $1 billion in total. Considering her line is still selling well and is featured in big time department stores like Macy's, is it really a surprise that fashion has played a role in her making some big bucks?

Aside from all her work in fashion, Simpson was also the celebrity spokeswoman for Weight Watchers and shared her 50-pound weight loss after the birth of her first child. And the company paid her pretty handsomely for the deal to endorse them — approximately $4 million according to Us Weekly. In case you've forgotten, she's also done commercials for Pizza Hut and ProActiv. If you combine this with the dough she already had rolling in from her music and reality television career, it adds up. And in Simpson's case, it adds up to an especially impressive amount.

So before you write off Jessica Simpson off as a forever immortalized ditz or as mere fodder for the tabloids for her pregnancies and relationships, keep in mind all she has accomplished in the last several years. She's more than another blonde pop star now.
