Kaitlyn & Shawn Might Get Married On TV

by Caroline Gerdes

After Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth got engaged on The Bachelorette’s finale episode, there is one question that we have all been wondering: Will Kaitlyn and Shawn get married on TV?! This wouldn’t be the first on-screen wedding for Bachelor/Bachelorette alumni. Sean & Catherine, Trista & Ryan, Marcus & Lacy, and Ashley & J.P. all said “I do” on televised ABC specials. So, will the show's newest couple follow suit? At a press conference in July, the couple was asked about televised nuptials, to which Kaitlyn responded, "We would consider it." Her fiancé added, “[It's] something we talked about for sure.”

While the couple hasn’t nailed down a date or exact wedding plans, they have spoken about possible locations for the wedding, citing Kaitlyn’s hometown of Vancouver or Las Vegas (with Elvis of course). The couple has only been allowed to be in public together since the show’s finale a few weeks ago, and they are taking this time to continue to get to know each other, instead of planning a wedding. "We just want to enjoy the moment right now ... It's been so crazy," Shawn told People magazine. "We just want to hang out as a normal couple, do a little traveling, and then sit down and start making some plans."

The betrothed couple seems to be having fun with their engagement. The two have been spotted around Kaitlyn’s hometown, posting selfies together, and they appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! — where the former Bachelorette even tried on wedding dresses. While on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the pair also swore on a pile of US Weekly magazines that they would go distance, unlike so many other couples from The Bachelor franchise.

We, Kaitlyn and Shawn B., do solemnly swear, that we are in love, that we will get married, or we will at least be together one year from today, because if we're not, this was a huge waste of everyone's time. If we are not still in a committed relationship on July 27, 2016, we will pay Jimmy Kimmel $1,000 which he may collect in a lump sum or over the next 30 years in monthly installments of $2.77! Amen.

The couple has already been OK with having a very public relationship and sharing their early private moments on the reality TV show, and, today, they love posting about their dates online. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if they got married in a public way, too. I mean, they've come this far! It's only fair that fans gets to finish the journey with them.
