This Is What The 2005 VMA Red Carpet Looked Like

When we take a look at our old photos from 10 years ago, most of us end up cringing. I can imagine what all of these celebrities feel when they look back at what they were wearing on the VMA red carpet in 2005. Although they might find it embarrassing, it's giving me a whole bunch of fashion inspiration. Fergie was wearing the fringe trend long before it was a festival favorite while Jessica Simpson rocked a sexy boho top that could easily be a part of her clothing line today. Destiny's Child was looking super glam in their silky, sparkly gowns and who can forget Hilary Duff's timeless flapper-inspired look. This is definitely taking me all the way back, while simultaneously getting me pumped for this year's VMAs!

From Jay-Z's pinstriped suit to Ice-T's bright yellow get-up, it seriously looked as if all the men secretly planned to wear bold and bright suits for the 2005 VMAs. Every member from My Chemical Romance wore sharp black suits while the members of Green Day each wore a different colored ensemble. Even Kanye West, who is the 2015 VMA Vanguard Award Recipient, rocked the crowd with Jamie Foxx in matching grey suits as they performed "Gold Digger." But I think my favorite outfit was the white-trimmed suit worn by none other than Snoop D-O double G! (Ah, yes, the days before he was a lion.)

As for women's fashion, it seemed like all the ladies were either wearing gold or silver. While Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, and Rihanna were sporting shiny gold, Beyoncé and Eva Longoria looked fabulous in silver.

Here we are, a decade later. So many artists have come and gone, but they definitely won't be forgotten. Let's take a little stroll down throwback lane and see all different looks from the 2005 VMAs.
