Is This Taco Bell's Version Of The Double Down?

by Melanie Kozak

Between all-day McDonald's breakfast, the Burger King Peace Burger, and Chipotle planning to start delivering to a whole bunch of college campuses this fall, it's been a big week for fast food news. And now we've got something new to add to the list: Apparently Taco Bell is testing a fried chicken taco shell right now. It's called the Naked Crispy Chicken Taco, and you know, if I didn't already know that Taco Bell and KFC share a parent company, I'd wonder whether the invention was going to disrupt the bond between the two fast food giants.

But don't get too excited yet; so far, the test item has only been spotted at two Taco Bell locations in California, according to Foodbeast. If you happen to be in the area, though, for under $3, you can get a taco fully equipped with a white meat fried chicken shell, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and an avocado ranch sauce. It sounds like a little much, but to be honest, they totally won me over with the avocado ranch sauce — and even though the whole thing is only a test right now, many of the people who've encountered it so far seem to be enjoying it (at least, according to social media).

Agreed.

Props, Taco Bell. props.

Some, however, seem a little concerned:

Called it.

Just. So. Much. Chicken.

So confused!

But if you're as intrigued, rather than confused, and you happen to live near Lost Hills or Bakersfield, it might be worth checking your nearest Taco Bell and seeing if the Naked Crispy Chicken Taco is available. Don't forget to share with the world what you think about it!
