This "Cups" Performance Is Record Breaking

by Tanya Ghahremani

I don't know about you, but I really do not have this kind of patience. I have watched this "Cups" video multiple times, and I still do not understand what the hell it is that these people are doing with those cups. They have rhythm! You know what happens when I try? My neighbors next door slam on the walls and tell me I'm making their children cry. (OK, maybe this is an exaggeration, but you get my point.) I guess what I'm trying to say is, I should commend these kids for their effort — learning this song is hard, and somehow, a Canadian school got 1,500 of its students to perform "When I'm Gone" (aka "Cups" from the movie Pitch Perfect together, with cups, and break the world record for most people performing the song at once.

According to The Huffington Post UK, a school in Drummondville, Quebec, Saint-Bernard school, got 1,500 students — from kindergarten to high school — and some staff members to participate in the stunt, and filmed it to break the world record. I'm not sure what the previous record was, but it's a safe bet that 1,500 was going above and beyond the amount of people who have previously performed the song together. So, it's pretty impressive.

Emma Watson would probably be proud.
