Hailey Baldwin Walked At NYFW For The First Time

by Julia Guerra

Tommy Hilfiger’s New York Fashion Week runway show featured some catwalk newcomers in addition to the all-too familiar faces. Fans of the millennial model squad will be pleased to know that Hailey Baldwin made her NYFW debut Monday along with gal pals Gigi and Bella Hadid. This 18-year-old model is no stranger to the intense energy fashion week exerts across all spectrums of the industry. Aside from catalog spreads and campaign shoots, Baldwin's walked for Topshop and Moschino in past London and Milan fashion weeks. New York, though, is a whole new runway for upcoming model. Though she did make a quick cameo in Sherri Hill’s evening wear show for the designer's 2013 collection, this officially marks her first full-fledged NYFW experience.

Besides the collection's brilliance exceeding expectations, Hilfiger’s 2016 show looked like a blast to participate in. The collection was tropical-themed, and the runway was transformed, complete with an elevated stage over a beach/pool set. The finale was a splash hit as models strutted through the water logged catwalk. Personally, I’m thinking this was definitely the right show for Baldwin to be initiated into the NYFW club.

Vogue caught up with Baldwin before the show to get some insight on the young model's experience. There seemed to be minimal jitters, and as for working alongside the greats like Karl Templer and Katie Grand, Baldwin told Vogue, "Just being able to gain experience from watching them. You know, when you’re surrounded by people who are so good at what they do, it inspires you, too. For me, I think that’s the biggest part of getting to work with these people. I just love getting to watch people who are just so passionate and good at what they do."

I think it's safe to say that we'll be seeing a lot more of Baldwin on the NYFW runway from here on out, and I cannot wait to see her rule the catwalk in years to come.
