Jim Carrey Shares Statement About Cathriona White

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, TMZ released a report stating that Jim Carrey's girlfriend, Cathriona White, committed suicide at the age of 30. The LAPD was reportedly called to White's home on Monday night after two of her friends found her. According to TMZ, law enforcement believes White died of a drug overdose due to pills found next to her body. Soon after the news broke, Jim Carrey released a statement to Just Jared that reads as follows:

I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.

Per TMZ, White reportedly left a suicide note addressed to Carrey that included details of what is said to be their Sept. 24 breakup. While speaking with People, Los Angeles Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said White was "pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m. last [Monday] night at a residence." Winter added, "It was reported as a possible suicide. There evidently was a note found. There were pills located near her." He continued that the "final cause of death won't be released until [they] get full toxicology and tests back."
