These Celebs Are Lucky To Have RiRi As A Fan
Rihanna is one inspiring woman, but that doesn't mean the Unapologetic pop star isn't inspired by other celebrities. In fact, the markedly not-shy star is so drawn to other celebs that she borderlines on fan-girling over them at times. Most recently, she declared herself a fan of Fetty Wap and Big Sean, which sound like the makings of a perfect soundtrack for a night out at the club for her. But Rihanna is a fan of some unexpected celebrities, too.
Sure, the 27-year-old has publicly shared her fandom for some celebrities who you would expect her to, like Fetty, who have somewhat similar personalities and interests to her. Combine that with a hit Internet presence and the connections just make sense. That's why they're expected. But at the same time, you should know with Rihanna that it is always best to expect the unexpected, from her wide variety of hit singles to her all-over-the-place fashion sense. And so, in a weird way, it sort of makes sense that the same would apply to the people who can count her as a fan. Read on to find out some of the most unexpected people that the singer has idolized and looked up to.
1. Eminem
Em and RiRi shocked the world when they collaborated for the first time with their song "Love The Way You Lie." But no one was more shocked than she was when he asked her to join forces. "He always raps and talks sh*t about pop artists and pop female artists," she said to MTV. "So it was more of a shock to me than anything, and then that was the first thought. The second thought was, 'Of course I’ll do a song with Eminem.'"
When dishing about later collaborations in 2013, she gushed to Complex, "I just love working with Eminem. He’s just one of my favorite rappers, and his lyrics — he’s a true poet, and I enjoy that about him."
2. Adele
Rihanna confessed to "stalking" Adele at the BRIT Awards back in 2012. She said that meeting Adele at the Grammys was a big starstruck moment for her. "I love her," she said. "I'm a big fan... Her last album, "21," spoke to me so much."
3. Karl Lagerfeld
"He’s supercool," RiRi gushed about the fashion designer to the New York Times. "He’s very real. He’s just talks about normal stuff.” At a dinner celebrating a new Fendi store opening, they were seat mates and apparently he had a lot to say about his cat. She said, "I never thought he’d be showing me pictures of his cat. On his phone!"
4. Harry Styles
Rihanna had a blast hanging out with the One Direction band member when he was seated behind her at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, judging by the fun pictures they took that night. She also shouted him out to the Daily Mirror, saying, "Harry, yeah. I watch their videos and I remember thinking, 'Wow, he’s a star.'" She added, "He seems very sure. It seems, like, it’s so natural to him." High praise!
5. Jim Parsons
Rihanna was such a fan of costarring with The Big Bang Theory star in their animated film Home that she gave him a much-needed selfie tutorial. (Anyone who was following Parsons on Instagram before this knew that his selfie game could use, well, a lot of improvement.) So the selfie queen graciously passed on her tips and tricks to him. She wouldn't do that for just anyone!
6. Kylie Minogue
Minogue and Rihanna have been spotted chatting up a storm at places like charity events at least as far back as 2009. But in 2011, Rihanna's fandom for Minogue was confirmed. After Minogue lost a BRIT Award for Best International Female to Rihanna, Minogue tweeted, "Congrats @rihanna... major songs, major year, major fan!!! #brits." And Rihanna responded, "@kylieminogue thanks my queen! We missed u there 2night." No better way to show respect than calling someone a queen, right?
It'll be fun to see who else Rihanna takes a liking to in the near future. Luckily for the celebs she is a fan of, she has plenty of varied taste to go around!
