While tons of people might jump directly to Kanye West when they think of hip hop's connection to fashion, the rapper-turned-designer isn't the only music industry mega-hitter with a major interest in the fashion industry. In case you didn't already know, hip hop artists are naming designers in their music, strengthening the link between the two mediums. To prove it, Macy's new website, M, created an infographic of the most name-dropped fashion brands in hip hop.
Many hip hop artists have become immersed in the fashion industry, from Jay-Z and Diddy to Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross. Other artists like Drake have even described the wardrobe of their ideal woman in songs like "Fancy." Of course, the connection between rappers and designer threads isn't anything new. Hip hop lovers know that these two go hand in hand and have been connected as far back as the '90s with Notorious B.I.G's mention of Moschino in "Hypnotize." According to this infographic, however, the link between the two industries is only strengthening.
