Terri Irwin Is A Mom Of Many Talents

When a famous person dies, there is always a lot of buzz about who their spouse will date next. Is he or she moving on too fast? Has he or she given up on love? In that vein, there has always been plenty of speculation about who Terri Irwin would date after her husband's death. The widow of late Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin, Terri was left alone with children Bindi and Robert when Steve was killed in a freak stingray accident in 2006. It's been almost a decade since his passing, but has Terri dated or married anyone since Steve’s death?

Nope, because she doesn't want to. In a 2013 interview with Australia’s Courier Mail, Terri said, “To me, Steve was my Prince Charming, he was my happily ever after and we got that. We got 14 years of marriage; we had the best most fantastic, adventurous, wonderful life that you could imagine. I feel that we almost get to live several lives and I'm now embarking on being the very best mother I can be.” It’s sweet and sort of sad that Terri has closed the romantic chapter of her life. But, even though her husband is no longer with her, she’s been throwing herself into motherhood and raising her two children in the best way.

And, obviously, Terri is not just the widow of Steve Irwin, so let’s explore what else Terri has done in the past decade.

1. She Became An Australian Citizen

Born in Eugene, Oregon, Terri met Steve, married him, and moved to Australia. After nearly two decades Down Under, she finally elected to become an Australian citizen in 2009. Shortly after receiving her citizenship, she campaigned on behalf of overpopulation, so it’s nice that she’s using her new status to get things done.

2. She Raised Two Successful Children

Bindi, Steve and Terri’s eldest, is currently on Dancing With The Stars, partnered with Derek Hough, and if you ask me, she’s got a real shot to win this thing. I love watching her. The 17-year-old is also a conservationist and environmentalist in her own right. Bindi’s younger brother, Robert, is 12 and looks to follow in the footsteps of his family. In an article with WHO magazine, he said, “I’ve grown up in a zoo, I’ve always been around animals and when I get older I will definitely be continuing in the zoo.” Wouldn’t dad Steve be so proud? It’s definitely a testament to Terri that she could keep her kids on the right track after such a tragedy.

3. She Took Over The Australia Zoo

Since Steve’s death, Terri has thrown herself into her work with the Australia Zoo — the same zoo that Steve’s father, Bob, founded. Though Bob left the zoo in 2008 amid rumors that he and Terri were having problems managing the zoo together, Terri has kept on, both to honor Steve’s dream and further her own passions of conservation and environmentalism.

Terri doesn’t need to remarry or date anyone to be happy. Steve was her one true love, and now she’s set on carrying on the family legacy — which is pretty cool if you ask me.
