Can You Wear A Black Dress To A Wedding?

by Lindsey Rose Black

Your friend is getting married and says you can wear whatever the heck you want to the wedding. You've got your favorite #LBD in the closet, but can you wear a black dress to a wedding? Unless you've received explicit instructions not to, of course you can!

The idea that black has to be reserved for somber occasions (or a night out at the club) is super silly and outdated. Black looks amazing on everyone, and chances are high you've already got a great little black dress sitting in your closet so you won't have to buy something new solely for your pal's wedding.

My sister recently got hitched and a surprising number of guests wore black. I can assure you the event didn't suddenly feel more depressing as a result! Some paired their black dresses with stylish black shoes, while others accented their ensembles with pops of color by way of dangling earrings and bauble necklaces. Take my word for it — black is more than OK.

If you need more convincing, Bustle writers are all about the little black dress. They've already created epic roundups for finding a party-perfect LBD, as well as little black dresses for fall that will actually keep you warm. I love their ideas as starting points, but also wanted to show you how many wedding-friendly options are out there from casual to formal!

Here are seven dresses you can totally rock at your next wedding.
