Lamar Odom's Children Release Statement

As another uncertain night passes, Lamar Odom's children released a statement Thursday evening that thanked the public for their support while asking everyone to respect their privacy. Released to CNN through their publicist, the statement came from Destiny Odom, 17, and Lamar Odom, Jr., 13, while their father reportedly remains in a medically induced coma after being found unconscious at a legal Nevada brothel Tuesday. Authorities have yet to disclose Odom's condition, though the situation is believed to be serious.

Destiny and Lamar Jr. are from Odom's previous relationship with ex-girlfriend Liza Morales. The statement marks the first time Odom's family has commented directly on his hospitalization. It read:

"Thanks for your outpouring of prayers and support for our dad. We are here with our family and friends. We appreciate everyone respecting our privacy at this time. We ask for your continued prayers."

E! News reports Odom was set to appear in front of a judge this month as part of a custody battle with Morales. The two had a third child, Jayden, who died of SIDS at 6 months old in 2006. Jayden's death was especially difficult for Odom, who had also seen his mother die of cancer when he was 12.

According to E! News, estranged wife and reality TV star Khloé Kardashian arranged flights for Odom's two children, their mother, and the 35-year-old's father Joe Odom to Las Vegas Wednesday. Despite signing divorce papers in July, Kardashian and Odom are reportedly still legally married, according to E! News, which would put the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star in charge of making his medical decisions. Kardashian has yet to publicly comment on the situation, having reportedly stayed at Odom's bedside since arriving Tuesday evening.

Other members of the Kardashian clan have rallied behind the NBA star by tweeting messages of love, such as Kris Jenner who on Wednesday said, "Please pray for Lamar #ourfighter." Our sincerest thoughts are with Odom and his family and friends.
