Demi Lovato Song "Stars" Is The 'Confident' Highlight You Need To Hear — LISTEN
It's a great day to be a Lovatic: Demi Lovato's new album, Confident , has finally arrived. I've had a chance to listen to the LP all the way through a few times, and I can say without hesitation that "Stars" is by far my favorite song. Now, I know what you're thinking: "'Stars'? A deluxe track? A track that didn't even make Confident's standard edition is your absolute favorite??" Yup. It's great! And honestly, who cares if it only appears on the deluxe edition? The deluxe edition needs good material, too. Otherwise, no one would shell out the extra dough for it! But, I digress...
Though I love "Cool for the Summer" and the title track, unfortunately, many of Confident 's other tunes fall flat for me. Their hooks just aren't strong enough — which is precisely why "Stars" stands out. "Stars" has a big, bold, memorable hook that suits Lovato's powerful voice like a glove — and you'll be belting it out along with her in no time. Lovato co-wrote the song with über-talented pop music heavyweights Carl Falk (One Direction), Rami Yacoub (Nicki Minaj), Alexander Kronlund (Britney Spears), and Savan Kotecha (Ariana Grande), so it's little wonder it's so catchy.
On the soaring pre-chorus and chorus to "Stars," Lovato sings:
Oh, when the lighs go out and it all goes down
No one even knows when tomorrow comes, 'cause we live for now
You and I
And we really don't need the light, 'cause we're stars tonight
Oh, yeah we really don't need the light, 'cause we're stars tonight
Oh, and we really don't need the light, 'cause we're stars tonight
Oh, yeah we really don't need the light, 'cause we're stars
It's such an anthem! For me, other Confident highlights include "For You" and "Wildfire" — but "Stars" is in a class of its own. What can I say? I'm a sucker for empowering up-tempos with lyrics about seizing the moment. To be honest, this project could've used a few more of 'em.
Confident and "Stars" are available on iTunes and Spotify now.
