Pregnant Chrissy Teigen Has No Time For Haters

by Caitlyn Callegari

There were a lot of things our mothers said to us growing up, but perhaps this old adage is the one best practiced: Think before you speak. Or, as the case may be, type. You see, on Sunday, Chrissy Teigen posted a photo of her growing baby bump on Instagram. Cute, right? But the adorableness of the picture is not what some people chose to focus on. Why? Because Teigen cheekily captioned the picture, "Somebody is early to the party" with three emojis of exasperation, implying that her bump was bigger than she expected it to be at this time in her pregnancy. Naturally, the Internet did what it does best: say some (perhaps unintentionally) offensive crap about Teigen and her pregnancy.

I think it's important to stress the aforementioned unintentional aspect of many of the critical comments. Most of Teigen's followers were definitely not trying to be malicious when they wrote to her. But, their words did get to the model, and understandably so. I mean, despite her clear amusement over tweets insinuating she was "bigger" than she should be, or those that insisted she must be having twins, it's clear that even someone as laid back and level headed as Teigen is can get annoyed at insensitivity every once in awhile, too.

However, as they say, it comes with the territory. Being in the public eye breeds all sorts of comments, both good and bad. Of course, that doesn't mean you have to like or accept what critics say, which, is why Teigen embracing these inadvertently insulting tweets with humor and poise is so endearing. Take a look at some of the cringeworthy Twitter exchanges for yourself, below, as evidenced by the social media maven's "unimpressed" emoji reactions to the following tweets.

The best thing about Teigen, though, aside from her quick wit? In the midst of the tweet storm, her continued ability to acknowledge that we're all human and that these things aren't that big of a deal:

Until, ya know, even more tweets came rolling in:

Finally, she had to put a stop to the landslide of crazy. And, really, who could blame her?!

But, that wasn't before she offered up some sweet and encouraging words to a woman who was on a similar journey:

For the record, Chrissy, you are the real MVP, and I think you look five kinds of fantastic. No matter how big the litter of children the Internet is predicting you to have all at once.
