Drop Everything: Adele Confirms Her Next Album

by Kadeen Griffiths

If you thought that today was just going to be another average Wednesday, then you were utterly and completely wrong. You know why? Because after months of rumors, and years of radio silence, Adele has confirmed her new album 25 is coming our way. The singer announced the news on Twitter with a long, thoughtful, poignant letter reflecting on her life to this point, her inspiration for her last album, and her inspiration for the album to come. As she herself says, 25 is no "break-up record," it's a "make-up record." She even goes on to apologize for it "[taking] so long, but you know, life happened." Oh, you don't have to apologize, Adele. I'm screaming and crying in my room at 8 a.m. over this; no apologies needed. Update: Adele confirmed on Instagram that her album is indeed coming out on Nov. 20.

Rumors that Adele had a new album 25 coming out soon have been flying, to the point where it even got an alleged release date of Nov. 20, 2015 without anyone coming out to definitively say one way or another if it was actually happening. The singer didn't go as far as to confirm that release date in her letter, but the world is open with possibility now that we know for a fact that this is happening, and that it is indeed called 25. Is it just me, or does the sun seem to be shining brighter? Do you hear the birds singing? Am I the only one who is about to play all of her previous albums and singles back to back to get myself ready for this new era?

Even more importantly, if you somehow forgot that you were a huge Adele fan in the time between her last album, 21, and her upcoming album, she swiftly and perfectly reminds you why you love her with this heartfelt letter. Adele's music is about raw honesty and relatable emotional experiences, and that's exactly what she delivers with her announcement. Adele still gets us, guys, and she's still candid enough to give us full access to her innermost feelings in a way that will help us all deal with her own. She's back, she's finally back, and the world is right again.
