This Dancing Skeleton Is The Hero We Need

by Kate Fustich

Halloween is a mere nine days away, which means it's time for everything in your life to be cozy, pumpkin-spiced, and spooky. But perhaps the greatest embodiment of how we all feel at this beloved time of year is the Dancing Skeleton Twitter account @Skeletontunes. Home to six-second clips of a foot-tall skeleton puppet gettin' jiggy with it to a variety of fan-requested songs, the Dancing Skeleton doesn't descriminate; he'll work it to everything from Flo Rida to the iCarly theme song. All the results are equally amazing.

The origin of the clip using in the Twitter account seems to date back to a 2014 YouTube video that features a street performer and his trusty puppet singing the Chubby Checker classic, "Let's Twist Again." However, videos of what appear to be the same (or at least a very similar) skeleton puppet date back on YouTube as far as nine years. As such, it's difficult to say just where and when the greatest dancing skeleton of all time originated, but he's certainly good at what he does.

The @Skeletontunes Twitter account has itself only been active for the past month or so, although to what end (other than the Internet's general enjoyment), we can only guess. Someone must have been feeling incredibly inspired by the season and needed to add an extra touch of spookiness to the world.

Perhaps most impressively is the way the tone of the dance changes depending on which song it's being performed to. Check out a few of @Skeletontunes' finest moves below, and head on over to Twitter for more.

1. Britney Spears, "Toxic"

2. Usher, "Yeah"

3. One Direction, "What Makes You Beautiful"

4. Justin Bieber, "What Do You Mean?"

5. Soulja Boy, "Crank That (Soulja Boy)"

6. Zac Efron, "Bet On It"

7. American Horror Story Theme Song

8. Daddy Yankee, "Gasolina"

9. Taylor Swift, "Style"

10. Drake, "Hotline Bling"

Stay groovy, li'l skeleton.
