How To Make A Last-Minute "Hotline Bling" Costume

by Caitlyn Callegari

Do yourself a solid and honor the only song that has been on your mind and your radio for the past week this Halloween. Don't pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about. Drake's "Hotline Bling" makes for perfect costume inspiration for a few reasons. First, everyone's going to eat it up. Second, it's super easy to put together. And, third, you know you don't have a proper costume yet, anyway. So, follow me and I will help you get your best Drake impression on.

The first thing I recommend with any of the below costume options is that, wherever you go, be it a party, bar, or trick-or-treating with your niece and nephew, have the song playing in your pocket on your phone. It'll be an instant, welcome indicator of exactly what you're trying to get across. Another thing that'd help? Try and do your best to exude some of Drake's unending charm. It's not easily replicable. I understand. That's OK, though. Not all of the costumes below are strictly Drake-centric. I know, I know. I aim to please.

Here are three different "Hotline Bling" costume options that will not only excite the masses, but are also super easy to throw together last-minute:

Option #1: For The Lazy & Literal People

If you're just not really into Halloween (though I don't understand how that could be) and you're really, really not into dressing up, here's what to do:

Take your hands, put them on your keyboard, and Google, "Hotline Bling cover art." Click on the image. Print it. Fasten it onto your regular clothes with whatever you have laying around that'll get it to stick, like tape or safety pins. Now, you are officially "Hotline Bling," the single. Easy.

Note: If you want to do one of the following costumes but worry it won't be as noticeable without this clear reference, print out the single art on a small scale and fasten it to your body where you see fit.

Option #2: A "Hotline Bling" Hotline Member

All this costume requires is a pair of light wash, high-waisted jeans and a light pink short sleeve shirt that comes just above the waist of your pants. Have a pink shirt that's not the appropriate length? Tie it in the back! Don't worry, that's what the woman pictured above did, so you're keeping it super authentic. Jeans not light wash? Who cares. You have jeans, don't you?! If you happen to have a pair of headphones with a mouthpiece, say from your Xbox or something, wear those too. They aren't necessary though.

Option #3: "Hotline Bling" Drake

The turtleneck, it is all about the turtleneck. If you don't have one, fear not. Forever 21 has this women's turtleneck for $24.90. (Go to the mall, now!!!)

And, H&M has this mock turtleneck for men for $39.99. (Go!!!! You're running out of time!)

Pair this iconic sweater with gray sweatpants and Timberland boots. If you don't have Timberlands, wear any brown boots your have. But make sure they aren't hiding underneath the hem of your pants.

There you have it. Happy Hotline-ween, guys.
