Taylor Schilling's Minimal Look Is Everything

No trend has swept over street style quite like the minimalist, normcore aesthetic. And now, Taylor Schilling in minimalist fashion at Club Monaco's anniversary in its flagship store in NYC shows us how to take this trend straight into evening event-wear. Schilling's cozy look pretty much confirms how important outerwear is, and how you can still look trendy and chic despite a (big) breeze.

There's a reason for the saying, "Less is more." Clean lines, impeccable tailoring, and a neutral color palette have reigned supreme this past year, and for good reason. Nothing beats out a classic — and Schilling's look is no exception. I'm pretty much fawning over the luxe, comfy fabrics and textures of her entire ensemble. Clad in all Club Monaco (which, honestly, is a dream), Schilling donned a classic black turtleneck (hello, Audrey Hepburn!), white culottes with a simple tie at the waist, peep-toe mules, and, my favorite part of all, a camel midi coat. Sigh... I'm in minimalist heaven.

Of course, she sported her classic blonde bob, with a natural, fresh face. All in all, her look was clean and cozy — the aesthetic I've been trying to follow all fall. Plus, this outfit completely nailed fall/winter layering, with just a sliver of her black turtleneck peeking past the camel coat. Love.

While many of us love Club Monaco, it may not be in most Millennial budgets. But fear not: There are some alternatives guaranteed to help you perfect Schilling's look. Plus a pair of those white culottes that I just couldn't resist adding.

1. This Light Camel Coat

ASOS CURVE Kimono Sleeve Coat, $152.28,

This coat is perfect for those crisp fall days that aren't quite chilly enough for a wool coat. However, when temperatures do drop, it'll be a fantastic layer to throw on under your trusty parka.

2. The Oversized Look

Missguided Oversized Camel Coat, $119,

Hi, gorgeous. I love the oversized lapels on this, and how the coat hits mid-calf. Talk about major warmth!

3. The Classic Turtleneck

Frame Le Turtleneck, $98,

If this staple isn't already in your closet, please get on it now! Your neck will thank you.

4. Steve Jobs, Is That You?

Ralph Lauren Silk-Cotton Turtleneck Sweater Plus Size, $125,

There's probably a reason Steve Jobs lived in black turtlenecks...

5. Clean Culottes

Club Monaco Saffra Culotte, 179.50,

I mean... Can you get more chic than these? I would say probably not. These will be the perfect addition to your winter whites collection.

6. The Black Version

Mynt 1792 Pleat Tencel Culottes (Plus Size), 158,

In case you're more on the all-black-everything team, these are for you.

7. These Supple Leather Mules

Steve Madden Nonstp, $99.95,

With a chunky heel and soft leather, these mules are perfect for a long night out.

This fall, do it like Taylor Schilling does and dress head to toe in minimal, clean lines.
