These Self-Driving Pods Will Make 'Back To The Future' Fans Cry With Joy — VIDEO

Oh science and technology, how I wish I was smart enough to dive into the pool of possibility that you rep. How I wish I was the one that has created these genius self-driving pods that make me believe I'm living in a sci-fi novel. Alas, I'm not a scientist, but I can still drool over those who walk the path. And this new idea of eco-friendly transportation pods makes me feel like the world might actually be going in the right direction.

When being interviewed for WIRED, Tommaso Gecchelin, the creator of the project he calls Next, said that he "foresees it providing both on-demand rides and shared public transportation, like a futuristic cross between Uber and the city bus". The more I looked at the video provided for the project, the more excited I got. It seems like the best of both worlds. An easy on-demand transport like Uber and Lyft, combined with the ability to be around other people. While that second part isn't everyone's favorite, I personally love that about public transportation. As an avid people watcher, Uber always bummed me out.

Obviously, this project is a long ways away from complete. It's still in the planning phase, but the creators hope that they can get something physical going by 2020. That's only five years away! I would love for something like this to be available by the time I'm 30, and I'm sure others can agree. Below are some of the functions of Nextas demonstrated in their product trailer.

1. The Design

This sleek design looks dope! Leg room, giant windows, and standing room. Sign me up for the trial run.

2. Interior Close Up

Again. Too cool.

3. Magic School Bus

The beauty of this linkable train of eco friendliness is hard to describe.

4. THE BEST PART OF THIS

There is a bar on it. That's right. They will have food, drinks. You can press a button and you can have any of this at your disposal. This would save me soooooo much time making breakfast. I can finally sleep in....
