9 Easy On-The-Go Beauty Hacks For Holiday Travel

by Alexa Tucker

The holiday season is almost upon us, which means it's also just about time for holiday travel season and doing your makeup on-the-go. As much as everyone loves to spend the most wonderful time of the year with friends and family, sometimes that means having to deal with planes, trains, and automobiles during the worst time of year to get away. There's a lot to stress about during the holidays, but your appearance shouldn't be one of them — here's nine quick and easy beauty touch-up tips for when you're on the run.

Even though running through train stations and standing in airport security lines can seriously up your anxiety level, feeling fresh and put-together can totally take the edge off. Travel has a tendency to make people feel a little icky, but taking two minutes to clean up a bit can make a huge difference in your attitude.

I don't know about you, but I feel like I can calmly tackle a lot more when I'm feeling confident and in-the-zone — and a quick make-up touch up is an easy way to get there (even when it seems like you're not getting anywhere, literally.)

Whether you're sitting in a cab or waiting for your plane, this routine will take you two minutes, max, and leave you feeling ready to face the inevitable struggle of holiday travel. Deep breath, and remember, it's all for the cause.

Lather On Hand Sanitizer: 10 Seconds

Bath & Body Works PocketBac Sanitizing Hand Gel, $1.75, bathandbodyworks.com

There's nothing like clean hands to make you feel a little less germ-y (and nothing like a Bath & Body Works mini bottle to throw it back to the early 2000s).

Blot Your T-Zone: 15 Seconds

Blotterazzi by Beauty Blender, $20, sephora.com

If you've got oily skin, reach for blotting papers or a blotting sponge to take the shine down a notch.

Wake Up Your Eyes: 25 Seconds

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer, $25, sephora.com

Use a double-duty concealer to wake up your under eyes and cover up any blemishes, then swipe a bit under your eyebrows for a subtle highlight. I use a bit of concealer in the creases of my nose, too, which tend to get red in the winter.

Even Out Your Skin: 20 Seconds

Laneige BB Cushion, $34, target.com

If your skin is oily, reach for a powder compact to touch up your skin. If it's dry, go for a liquid foundation or BB cream compact to even out. I swear by Laneige's BB cushion — it gives the perfect amount of glow-y coverage.

Touch Up Your Brows: 15 Seconds

Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper and Hair Touch Up, $24, sephora.com

A quick brow touch up goes a long way, especially when you're using a product that's practically made for on-the-go use.

Tinted Lip Balm: 10 Seconds

Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm in Grape Vine, $2.99, target.com

Tinted lip balm isn't just for your pout — swipe a bit on the back of your hand and use your fingers to apply it to the apples of your cheeks for a quick pop of color.

Brush Your Hair: 10 Seconds

The Body Shop Mini Hair Brush, $5, amazon.com

Keeping a mini hairbrush in your bag might be the best decision you make while traveling.

Break Out The Deoderant: 10 Seconds

Dove Go Fresh Cool Essentials Anti-Perspirant, $0.97, target.com

I take that back: Keeping a mini deodorant in your bag might be the best decision you make while traveling.

Pop An Altoid: 5 Seconds

Altoids Peppermint Mints, $1.64, walmart.com

If giving your teeth a quick brush to freshen up isn't an option, reaching for the Altoids will do the trick. Curiously strong, amiright?
