The One Thing You Need To Do For Stronger Nails

by Lindsey Rose Black

Winter weather can be all kinds of harsh on nails. If you're looking down and notice they've become extra brittle, I researched to find the one thing you need to do for stronger nails and you've got to try it. The best part? Chances are super high you already have what you need for stronger nails sitting on your kitchen counter or in your pantry.

Beyond winter's cold temperatures wreaking havoc on your nails, there might be another culprit. If you frequently get gel, shellac, or acrylic manicures, your nails are going to be prone to breakage and brittleness. First and foremost, definitely give your nails a breather for a few weeks in between manicures if you can bear it! Luckily, the hack below will also get your nails back to normal in no time whether the cause is weather, a manicure, or a combo of the two.

The one thing you need to do for stronger nails is soak them in olive oil! According to Livestrong, "olive oil penetrates the skin and nail to help repair damage and soften nails and cuticles, which leads to nail strength and health." I called to confirm this with my professional manicurist pal, and she hardcore recommends giving it a try! It's no wonder they massage oil into your cuticles at the salon.

All you need to do is pour a few tablespoons of olive oil into a microwave safe bowl, heat it for a few seconds, and then soak your nails for fifteen minutes before rinsing with cool water to seal in the moisture.

I recommend using extra virgin for best results!

I really love La Tourangelle oils because they're super high quality and equally safe to use on your nails, and then after, your salad. Nom.
