Liv Tyler Chops Off Hair, But It's Not Super Short — PHOTOS
It's not quite the new year yet, but that doesn't mean that you have to wait for the calendar to officially turn in order to make a big beauty change. Actress Liv Tyler chopped off her hair, first teasing the cut on Instagram while saying goodbye to her locks and thanking them for growing so well. It was an artful way to reveal that she was going with a new look.
Also refreshing is the fact that Tyler isn't subscribing to that whole "New year, new you" thing. She clearly wanted a new cut now and she just went for it. So ups to Tyler for going with her gut.
Tyler, whose lovely face is often framed by a cascade of long, glossy, and brown curls, made it seem like she had cut off most of her hair when she posted a shot of her newly shorn strands in her stylist's hands, along with a pair of scissors.
I was bracing for impact, given the several inches of cut hair displayed in the image. I found myself wondering aloud, "Is Liv getting a bob? A lob? A pixie?" Of course she is so freaking pretty that any of those cuts would work with her shiny strands.
Here is the photo she posted, teasing her fans about her new look. So. Much. Hair!
Are you ready to see Tyler with her new 'do? Want to see how short the voluptuous-lipped mother of two went? Of course you do. Or 'do!
Whoa! It's not that huge of a change. She didn't go short. Tyler turned up at the British Fashion Awards and showed off the fact that she certainly got rid of a bunch of length. But overall, her hair is still pretty long and wavy!
It's actually a really, really long lob. It resembles a lob that she has since grown out... maybe? Despite the fact that her hair is noticeably but not insanely shorter, it actually wasn't an anti-climactic reveal...
... when you compare it to how long her hair was.
Now you can truly appreciate the shorter length when you look at it against her curly locks from earlier this year.
Or from last year.
Tyler rocked the menswear trend, as well. I love that her hair is still long and lush. She didn't wander into "Short hair, don't care" territory. But this cut is newer, better, and a little more streamlined.
