6 Christmas Movies To Watch With Your Family

by Vannessa Jackson

Tis' the season of snuggling on the couch with hot cocoa, a fire burning slowly, and the whole family by your side. Holidays bring the family together, and Holiday movies are the icing on the top of the cake. Something about holiday films, brings back memories of childhood and family togetherness. Whether your family likes to go see a brand new Christmas flick in theaters each year, or are all about gathering around to check out the classics, there are so many Christmas movies to watch with your family this season.

New and old alike, there is something for every family out there. Personally, my family has a soft spot for any of those 12 days of Christmas films. The ones where someone is thrown back in time and forced to live the same day over and over until they finally learn their lesson and make all of their Christmas dreams come true—I could watch those films for days! Your family may be really into the tear filled flicks that make you believe all of your problems can be solved with a little holiday cheer and a well timed Christmas miracle. Luckily for ys, when it comes to family friendly Christmas flicks, there is something for everyone!

1. Christmas Every Day

Erik Von Detten was the king of the late 90's and early 00's! From Brink! to Princess Diaries, it seems like he basically had the market for teenage heartthrob cornered. Christmas Every Day was no exception. In his role as naive Billy Jackson, he is forced to relive Christmas Eve over again until he finally gets it right and—spoiler alert—wins the girl of his dreams. Classic feel good Christmas story.

2. Richie Rich's Christmas Wish

This is David Gallagher, another 90's hearthrob, in his prime. After spoiled rich kid Richie Rich wishes he had never been born, he see's exactly how bad things are without him in the lives of his family and friends. This one will make you very thankful for your loved ones, and jumping for joy at some of the cheesy 90's lingo.

3. The Polar Express

This animated film is a must see every Christmas. With an all star cast that includes Tom Hanks, you can't go wrong. Get ready for the unexpected emotions you'll feel watching these adorable kids on their mysterious midnight hunt for a little bit of Christmas magic.

4. Miracle On 34th Street

This is a classic Christmas film to watch with the family. Especially if you are a new parent, this might be a great tradition to start with the family! This film about a little girl on the search for the real Santa Claus will make your heart melt every time. My personal favorite is the 1994 remake, but the 1946 original is incredible as well.

5. Arthur Christmas

This cute animated film about Santa's klutzy son Arthur is sure to bring a stronger bond with your family—or at least plenty of laughs! I love the movies that explain the origin stories, or things that the universe has been wondering since the dawn of time, and Arthur Christmas does not dissapoint. You will discover the truth about how Santa does it all, and the technology that keeps the elf's on the right track every season!

6. I'll Be Home For Christmas

Jonathan Taylor Thomas, the name that says it all. This film starring Thomas and a young Jessica Biel, is the perfect flick for anyone who knows what it's like to be away from your family for the holiday. It will make you remember the good times, and the reasons to be thankful for family during this season.

Christmas movies are the best! The only thing that makes them better is watching with the one's you love by your side. So pull up a chair and grab the popcorn, because there are tons of movies to get you in the holiday spirit this year!
