Meet Zac Efron's 30-Year-Old Superfan
Zac Efron's biggest fan is 30 and works for Facebook. It sounds strange — well, it is strange — but it's true. Zac Efron met his super fan Kirby Koo at a Facebook event when he was promoting his new movie That Awkward Moment. Koo stood up during a Q&A portion of the event, which also featured his co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller, and rather than asking a question she launched into a long, very confident speech about why Zac Efron is her favorite celebrity ever.
Koo told Efron, "I am really having a moment because this is literally my dreams coming true. I have dreamt for a very long time of meeting Zac Efron in person and anyone who knows me knows that." It's a weird thing to hear from someone who is old enough to work at Facebook, but it gets weirder. "In case you might feel mutually, I got permission from my husband." Koo tries to continue her speech when Efron comes into the crowd to give her a hug and chat. She tells him she's 30, and the 26-year-old actor is clearly surprised saying, "You look like you're 16." She goes on to say that her 26th birthday party was High School Musical themed and that she bought out all the HSM supplies at Party City.
I don't really know how someone who is currently 30 ends up that into High School Musical, but I guess fandom knows no bounds? Kirby Koo seems super sweet, so I won't read too far into her obsession and just say that it's awesome that she got to have her dream come true. And she's married, so it's not like she's sleeping in a room full of Zac Efron posters, right? Right?!?!
Efron and Koo's meeting didn't stop there, Efron wrote a message for Koo on his Facebook page following the event.
Kirby, I have so much more I want to say. And I will- when I find the words. But I'll start here- When you stood up, with such strength, and sincerity and gave me perhaps the nicest compliment I've been paid...it meant so much more than that to me. Facebook and online media in general, show only half the picture- sure people see me, but I never get to see them. Yesterday was the first time in a very long time that I was able to look into your eyes and remember why I do what I do- and will never stop. I needed that, more than you will ever know and just wanted to say thanks- face to face soon I hope.
Wow. Maybe Efron seemed a little surprised at Koo's passion while he was right in front of her, but he really took her comments to heart. Koo has responded to Efron on her own Facebook page saying, "Zac, I am so incredibly touched by your note ... Meeting you was always the dream, but I never could have imagined that you would respond with such genuine kindness and literally open arms ... I'd be humbled to consider you a friend."
Sheesh. Can they just get a room already? Her husband said he's fine with it.
