9 Reasons Bethenny Is More Than A Real Housewife

by Marenah Dobin

Watching the shows in the Real Housewives franchise is everything to me. I know all the ins and outs of every series, and I love to know what the ladies are up to between in between filming the seasons. Needless to say, I am obsessed, and I know I'm not the only one. But aside from the super fans, there are plenty of other people who are familiar with the ladies — at least some of the ladies, because their influence and fame is not just limited to the Bravo reality series. For instance, Bethenny Frankel is more than just a Real Housewives star.

Pretty much everyone knows who Bethenny is and what she does, especially because she does so many things. She has used her time on Real Housewives of New York City as a platform to build up her profile and promote her brand. Bethenny is a mom, a business woman, a former talk show host, and so much more. She has really transcended the franchise to be more than just a reality star. And there have been plenty of times Bethenny Frankel proved that she is beyond the typical Real Housewives cast member.

1. When She Started Skinnygirl

Bethenny went from explaining how to make "skinny girl" margaritas when she ordered them at restaurants to selling her own alcohol line and making millions. She expanded her Skinnygirl brand from alcohol and mixers to everything from salad dressings, to yoga mats, to nutrition bars, and pretty much every other product possible.

2. When She Became A Mom

Bethenny was practicing her mommy abilities with her dog Cookie when we first met her on RHONY, but now she's a dedicated mother to her daughter Bryn. She went from living her life for herself to devoting everything to helping her daughter.

3. When She Left RHONY

After three seasons on the show, Bethenny didn't need Real Housewives to continue building her brand. People cared about her personal and professional life, and she was ready to leave the show that really gave her the platform to be famous.

4. When She Got Her Own Spin-off Show

People cared so much about Bethenny that they wanted to watch a show that was solely about her life. Fans wanted to see her navigate marriage, babies, and business without the RHONY cat fights, and Bethenny Ever After was born.

5. When She Hosted A Talk Show

Bethenny moved from Bravo to NBC to host her own talk show, Bethenny. It only lasted one season, but it was a memorable one that people enjoyed, and it allowed her to break away from just being considered one of the Housewives.

6. When She Made The New York Times Best Sellers List

Bethenny has a lot to say, so it makes sense that she would write a bunch of books. Bethenny has books about diet and fitness, relationships, and even a children's book. She has even made the New York Times Best Sellers List.

7. When She Sold Skinnygirl

After building up her brand, Bethenny made the best decision when she sold Skinnygirl for reportedly as much as $100 million. She knew exactly what she was doing and that is why she is such a successful business women.

8. When Her One Liners Became Iconic

Almost everything Bethenny says is instantly quotable and turned into memes and merchandise. This is the reality star dream and Bethenny is living it.

9. When She Returned To RHONY

Yep, Bethenny even proved that she was more than just a Real Housewife when she decided to return to RHONY. Plenty of women have left the show and were not welcomed to return. Bethenny is a total boss who can decide when she wants to be a Real Housewife or not. She is a major draw and a force bigger than the show itself.

Bethenny Frankel is definitely one of a kind. I love everything about her association with the Real Housewives franchise, but there is so much more to her than that. I have a feeling that she would have found a way to become a household name with or without Real Housewives. Luckily for the fans, we get to experience Bethenny Frankel in many capacities.
