The One Christmas Album To Visit This Holiday

by Vannessa Jackson

All five members of *NSYNC have come a long way since the '90s. Between music, acting, and reality TV appearances, it is hard to put a pulse on what the boys — dare I say men — are up to nowadays. They have seen lots of success in the decade since they said bye bye bye for the last time, but, let's be honest, some of their best work was done in the late '90s — including their Christmas album Home For Christmas, which produced my all time favorite Christmas song, "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays." If you're even slightly into Christmas music, then I suggest you stop everything you are doing and give this 90's Christmas album a much deserved listen.

I may be biased, because I grew up in the thick of the *NSYNC pandemonium, with the sounds of their music reverberating across my bedroom walls on a regular basis. So, to me, they can do no wrong. In those days, you were either *NSYNC or Backstreet Boys; there was no in between. For this girl, it was all about No Strings Attached. But the boys outdid themselves with their 1998 album Home For Christmas, a mix of classic Christmas gems, with a little bit of original flavor mixed in. If you are a lover of '90s pop music, I've got a few reasons you need to add these songs to your "Christmas Jams" playlist this year.

1. You Get Justin Timberlake In The '90s

If you love present day Justin Timberlake, and you should, then you will love 90's Justin Timberlake. There is a reason he is the new king of pop, and it all started with this beautiful boy band.

2. "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" Exists

As I mentioned before, this is one of my all time favorite Christmas songs, so it counts as a reason all on its own. I truly beleive that you have not fully enjoyed Christmas until you listen to this song.

3. There Are A Capella Renditions Of Christmas Classics

A capella music is having a moment this year. The boys sing an a capella rendition of "O Holy Night" that will make you tear up.

4. It's The Perfect Mood Music

There are more than a few romantic Christmas songs to get you through those cold nights. "The Only Gift" and "Kiss Me At Midnight" might even be good choices for someone looking to propose this year.

5. The Cover Art Is Festive

The cover art to this album alone is worth it. Nothing says Merry Christmas like five '90s heartthrobs staring at you from under mistletoe. You'll also get a laugh out of Timberlake's classic bleach blonde curls.

6. You Can Re-Live Your Childhood

Even if you don't enjoy the music, there is sure to be a song or two that will bring you back to the good ol' days and remind you why '90s boy bands were such a huge phenomenon in earlier years.

7. You'll Want to Re-Listen To All of Their Albums

This album will only bring you happy memories of simpler times, and of course, leave you with a healthy dose of nostalgia for the old days.

Face it: *NSYNC ruled the boy band game. Before One Direction and The Vamps, there was *NSYNC. Put a little joy back in your life this season, and listen to Home For Christmas.
