During Saturday night's Democratic presidential debate, there was at least one distinctly weird moment — why was Hillary Clinton late to return to the debate stage? It happened right after ABC News' mid-debate break, and it made for a truly weird sight, as for about 30 seconds or so, her Democratic rivals Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley were the only ones on the stage.
While there's no concrete information just yet to explain what exactly happened, there's at least one possible excuse that people have been speculating about, because this isn't the first time she's been a little tardy coming back from a commercial break. Specifically, back during the first Democratic debate in Las Vegas in October, she was late getting back from the break. And though the cameras didn't catch her like they did on Saturday, it drew some light joking from CNN moderator Anderson Cooper, which caused Clinton to offer a slightly coy explanation: "Well, thank you. You know, it does take me a little longer. That's all I can say."
In other words, if you're not fluent in urination euphemisms: she was using the bathroom, and didn't quite get back in time. While there's no telling whether that was what happened this time, Clinton did offer a curt, slightly embarrassed apology.
