Analyzing 'Fuller House' Based On The Girls' Dance

You might be sitting there thinking we won't know a thing about Fuller House until it hits Netflix on Feb. 26, but that just means you don't have your degree from Pop Culture Detective School yet. The latest Fuller House teaser set to "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" featured the three female stars of the soon-to-be Netflix hit dancing on Dec. 21, as a kind of early Christmas present for all of us, presumably. I have to say, watching Andrea Barber, Candace Cameron Bure, and Jodie Sweetin dancing to "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)" was like adding a new, amazing layer to my childhood that I never thought possible before. The teaser pretty much beautifully proved to all of us that the girls of Fuller House officially come whizzing out of the 90s and into the 2010s. And ,since no one actually talks in the 30-second promo, it's up to us to glean information from it by watching the dynamics between the actresses.

Which is exactly what I did! What? You want me to wait another two months to get a feel for how these ladies behave with each other as adults? No way, Jose! And if you don't think I can make grand, sweeping generalization about upcoming shows based entirely on dance moves, then clearly you don't know me very well at all. So what've we got?

Well, the first thing I notice is that Kimmy is very much doing her own thing, not dancing like the Tanner sisters. They're getting really into the choreography and obviously enjoying themselves, and she's kind of got a "too cool for school" attitude happening, which ends up transforming into a little animosity, even. Look at her telling Stephanie she has her eyes on her, and getting in D.J.'s face a little bit! I see you, girl. I know what's coming.

As for D.J., she's right in the middle of the other two, so I'd expect her to get the majority of the spotlight in the reboot. She's looking directly at camera, has a really confident look on her face, and is really owning the dance moves. She knows what's up, doesn't care what you think, and you can see her look over to check on Stephanie at one point. If I was a human-whisperer, I'd say D.J. is the alpha here.

And, finally, Stephanie Tanner. She starts out just as into it as D.J., but, when things get the teensiest bit aggressive with Kimmy, she's hiding behind her big sister, which is interesting. Is that gonna be a theme on the show? I wonder. It seems like she's expecting D.J. to do her dirty work for her, and I bet that's how we see it play out onscreen. And, in the meantime, check out the full teaser below:

I bet you didn't think we could get all of that out of one clip, did you? Well that's the education you get when you apply to Pop Culture Detective School. Here's your diploma, great work out there.
