When Will 'PLL' Really End?

by Jordana Lipsitz

Update: On Wednesday, I. Marlene King clarified on Twitter that just the upcoming storyline of "Uber A" will end after Season 7, not necessarily Pretty Little Liars as a whole. Earlier: Sorry Pretty Little Liars fans — it looks like our favorite little fantastically-dressed deviants are done for after Season 7 of the long-running ABC Family series comes to an end. During an interview with Variety, the show's creator, I. Marlene King, admitted that she wants Pretty Little Liars to end after Season 7, and doesn't see the show going beyond that. From Variety:

“I think that this story when we’re back will end next year at the at end of Season 7,” King told Variety this week when asked if the time jump gives the series more legs to continue. Then asked, “So you definitely want it to end at the end of Season 7, and don’t want it to go beyond that?” King replied: “Correct.”

Despite this admission by King, there's been no announcement from ABC Family about the series ending, so it is worth nothing that nothing is official just yet. There's been talk of a movie after the series ends in the past — King herself has even entertained rumors of it, saying she'd consider what fans wanted — and, of course, in the world of television, things can change quickly. If worse comes to worse and the show does end after Season 7, that wouldn't be for a long while anyway — the season wouldn't wrap up until March 2017, which is like, over a year away. There's still a ton of PLL goodness left, no matter when the show is set to end. Plus, the second half of Season 6, Season 6B, is set to start on Jan. 12!

Whenever the end does come, whether it be a series finale at the end of Season 7, or a movie that follows, be ready. The type of grief you will feel will be real, but in time it will go away. It always does. Specifically when you find a new show, and find a new show you will. After all, King does have a new show on the way with Bella Thorne in the lead called Famous in Love ...

Time heals all friends, it really does.
