Why Was Rob Kardashian Reportedly Rushed To The Hospital For Diabetes? The Condition Can Require Emergency Care
Scary news for the Kardashian family: TMZ is reporting that Rob Kardashian may have been rushed to the hospital after reportedly not feeling well over the weekend. According to the gossip site, Kardashian’s condition worsened and his family became alarmed enough to take him to an L.A. hospital. While there, he was allegedly diagnosed with diabetes, a condition that, according to PEOPLE , the reality star had never dealt with before. For those unaccustomed to diabetes and the emergencies that can often accompany the condition, Kardashian being rushed to the hospital may seem like an overreaction — but, in reality, diabetes can be a deadly condition and should be treated as such. In fact, there are a number of symptoms that Kardashian may have been experiencing relating to the reported situation that would have warranted an emergency trip to the hospital.
When it comes to diabetes, there are two conditions that patients need to be increasingly aware of: blood sugar that is too low and blood sugar that is too high. According to The Mayo Clinic, both can occur in patients suffering from Type 2 Diabetes — especially in patients that have not yet been diagnosed. According to Prevention.com, “Blood sugar levels that are too high or too low can quickly turn into a diabetic emergency.”
In the case of low blood sugar, patients can experience symptoms such as erratic heartbeat, sweating, dizziness, confusion, and loss of consciousness. In the case of high blood sugar, patients can experience nausea, extreme thirst, dehydration, and a loss of consciousness. In fact, both high blood sugar and low blood sugar can trigger what is called a diabetic coma, a state of unconsciousness that — if not treated immediately — can result in death.
It’s unclear exactly what symptoms Kardashian reportedly was experiencing, but any of these symptoms could have been alarming enough to warrant a trip to the hospital. If Kardashian had been exhibiting any of these symptoms, a trip to the emergency room would have been the right move for sure.
