Ready or not, it's time to say goodbye to 2015 and say "Dale!" to 2016 on Thursday night — with Pitbull, of course. And Mr. Worldwide has brought plenty of guests along for the ride on his FOX New Year's Eve special. Empire star Bryshere "Yazz" Gray and Timbland performed "Bout 2 Blow" on Pitbull's New Year's Revolution at Bayfront Park in Miami, Florida, and it was electrifying. I can't think of a better way to ring out 2015 than with a song from the TV series that totally defined this year. And I think Mr. Worldwide agrees with me, because he even guest starred on the show this season.
Co-star Taraji P. Henson introduced the performance, which began with Yazz and Empire music producer Timbaland rocking out to series' song "Bout 2 Blow," a moody tune that can still jump start any party — especially one on a hot New Year's Eve stage in Miami. The energetic Yazz bounced around the stage, while Timbaland commanded with a slow walk as he spit his verses. As the song wound down, Yazz and Timbaland both agreed that 2016 is going to be a "hella good year." And if folks from Empire say it, you know it's must be a true statement.
It's also a great way for Gray and Timbaland to close out year in which Empire became a TV and music phenomenon. Timbaland is part of Empire's main music producing team and Yazz plays Hakeem on the drama series. Gray has also rocked the stages at the Billboard Music Awards, the Teen Choice Awards, and Fox's Taraji and Terrence's White Hot Holiday with co-star Jussie Smollett.
Empire is on hiatus until March, but hey, this is at least something to ease the withdrawal.
