George R.R. Martin: More 'GOT' Deaths Are Coming

by Kate Ward

Sure, you're sad now following Sunday's brutal "Red Wedding" episode of Game of Thrones, but based on George R.R. Martin's Conan interview Wednesday, it's hardly time to put away the Kleenex yet. (And that includes you, sad Robb Stark.)

During the interview, Martin, the author behind the A Song of Ice and Fire series – on which Game of Thrones is based — says he's spoken to four actors who are headed to the grave, despite three not even knowing it yet. One even begged Martin to not kill her character in one of the final two books, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring, but "I know that she does die," Martin told the late night host. "I want my readers and I want my viewers to be afraid when my characters are in danger," he said, reacting to the ire surrounding the deadly "Red Wedding."

Here's betting we all echo Conan when he says, "You get us to really care about characters, love them, think that they're central to everything, and then you kill them. You sick bastard."
