Jessie J Sang "Imagine" To Ring In The New Year

by Cate Carrejo

The very last Times Square performance of 2015 went to Jessie J's rendition of John Lennon's "Imagine" on CNN's New Year's Eve Live broadcast. The British pop star had the honor of performing the iconic song, which is traditionally sung right before the ball is dropped to send a message of world peace and unity into the new year. Of course, Jessie J performed beautifully, and helped Times Square ring in 2016 in style. Jessie J joins the club of past artists who have performed the song to end the year, which includes Melissa Etheridge, Cee-Lo Green, and Train.

In past years, all the networks have aired the coverage of the song, but this year, ABC's "Rockin' New Year's Eve" actually skipped the performance, opting to leave the coverage to CNN and the official live stream. There's been no official reports, but the delegation of the segment could mean the start of a rotating schedule between the networks for airing of the segment.

2015 was at times a pretty rough year for the world, but hopefully, Jessie J's wonderful rendition of the classic song "Imagine" will help the song's inspiring message of harmony come to life and make 2016 a little brighter!
