Watch Amanda Seyfried Playing A Porn Star

by Rachel Simon

At least one of the two upcoming Linda Lovelace biopics looks promising, and it's not the one that almost had Lindsay Lohan in the lead; the first trailer for Radius-TWC's Lovelace, starring Amanda Seyfried as the porn star propelled to fame by the 1972 mega-hit Deep Throat, has just been released, and we're uh, deeply impressed. Check it out below:

Between Seyfried's spot-on look and the A-list supporting cast, Lovelace looks like it has serious potential to be an end-of-summer hit. We're excited to see Seyfried, who has had a strong but not spectacular post-Mean Girls career (Jennifer's Body was good, okay?!), take on a role as iconic and complex as Lovelace. If the movie is even halfway as good as the trailer, it should give Seyfried the boost she needs to make audiences think of her as a serious actor, and for producers to offer her roles more Les Misérables than The Big Wedding.

Lovelace, directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, also stars Sharon Stone, Peter Sarsgaard, Juno Temple, Adam Brody, Wes Bentley, James Franco, Chris Noth, Hank Azaria, Chloe Sevigny, and Bobby Cannavale. It will be released Aug. 9.
