Selena Gomez Is About To Make Her 'SNL' Debut

by Michelle Lulic

NBC's Studio 8H is about to be taken over by two of the fiercest women around: a certain UFC Fighter and a certain "Hands to Myself" singer. On January 23, Ronda Rousey and Selena Gomez will be on Saturday Night Live . Rousey is set to show us a little more of her comedy side as a first-time host, and Gomez is going to be the musical guest for her first time ever as well. So, basically, this upcoming episode of the comedy sketch show is nothing less than empowering, and I'm seriously excited to tune in.

Now the doubters out there in the audience, who only have faith in people who are multiple time performers and hosts, may be wondering unfairly if these two can pull it off. Um, of course they can! In fact, Ronda Rousey already showed the world some of her comedy skills in her recent cameo in the 2015 Entourage movie. And, as for Selena Gomez, her recent performance of the song "Same Old Love" at the 2015 American Music Awards proved (once again) that she's more than worthy of the SNL stage. If anything, this episode is going to be completely taken over by the female empowerment of it all. I mean, these two ladies have consistently proved to us that they know how to fight back and stand up for themselves — even in the hardest of times.

With Ronda Rousey unexpectedly breaking her 12-0 MMA win streak against fellow UFC fighter Holly Holm in November 2015, and Selena Gomez clarifying that her on-and-off again relationship with Justin Bieber has officially come to an end, these ladies have been through the ringer, and come out on top. Fans of both women already know that, and now Saturday Night Live is going to be their platform to show the world that getting knocked down definitely won't keep these ladies (or their careers) down for good. Plus, what better way to handle the pain than to laugh it off, right?

Personally, I am dying to see Gomez take some of her time onset to appear in a sketch where Kate McKinnon reprises her role as Justin Bieber. Or what about an SNL-staged battle between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey? Either way, these two ladies mixed with the awesomeness that is the ladies of Saturday Night Live can basically never go wrong.

However, we'll just have to wait and see! You can spot these two on SNL January 23. But first, it's Adam Driver hosting and Chris Stapleton performing on January 16.
