Brandy's Back Again With 'Zoe Ever After'

There are a lot of fun new shows popping up at midseason, but one of them marks the return of a 1990s favorite. What has Zoe Ever After's Brandy Norwood been up to recently? You may know her best as a Disney princess, a powerhouse of pop and R&B, or Moesha, but the triple threat has been working steadily ever since.

According to the official BET description of the show, Brandy will be playing "Zoe Moon, a newly single mom stepping out of the shadow of her famous boxer ex-husband Gemini Moon while trying to balance dating, motherhood, a complicated relationship with her ex and finally fulfilling her career dream of starting a cosmetics line. Zoe is surrounded by a cast of colorful characters, including her smart and precocious eight year old son Xavier, her fashion-forward and fun assistant Valenté, her publicist and best friend Pearl and sexy contractor Miguel." It's a traditional multi-cam sitcom, so get ready to laugh along a bunch.

If you're not a super devoted Brandy fan but could be persuaded, here's a quick refresher on what she's been up to since the days of yore. This last year in particular has been pretty big for her in almost all of her fields.

On The Screen

She's starred in multiple reality series, from Brandy And Ray J: A Family Business to Dancing With The Stars in 2010, and was a judge on the first season of America's Got Talent. She was in the series The Game as Chardonnay, and guest-starred on Drop Dead Diva and 90210. She has also appeared in a few films, and is slated to be in this year's The Perfect Match .

In The Studio

While Brandy's last album was in 2012, she's releasing her seventh studio album in 2016, and had recently released several singles and a Coldplay cover in the last few years, including the above "reunion" with Monica. According to an interview with Out Magazine, the upcoming Brandy album is going to be produced by DJ Camper — "it's special, and it’s real, and it’s raw, and it’s going to be classic."

Greek Life

Last summer, Brandy became an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. She was inducted in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Across The Stage

Recently, Brandy made a splash in her Broadway debut playing Roxie Hart in Chicago. She will also be touring with the production in the near future. All that, and a new sitcom to boot? Everything is looking up for the Zoe Ever After star, and I can't wait to see what's next!
